Gabriel Tschurtschenthaler was born with a genetic eye disease. His remaining vision, which relies heavily on varying light conditions, now stands at less than 10 percent. Despite these challenges, Gabriel refuses to let his condition dictate his life. Teaming up with fellow alpinists Vittorio Messini and Matthias Wurzer, Gabriel pushes himself to his limits, particularly in the mountains. Over the past two years, they've taken on demanding ice, rock, and mixed routes together, presenting both a challenge and a source of enrichment for the entire team.

While Gabriel's visual impairment presents numerous obstacles, the trio has honed their teamwork to overcome them. Each member plays a crucial role in navigating the demanding routes, requiring precision and coordination at every step. Through dedication and mutual understanding, they've developed a seamless synergy that allows them to tackle even the most challenging climbs with confidence.

I accompanied the team on the north face of the Großglockner via the Mayerlrampe and the NW grat. Just one year later, the team fulfilled a monumental dream: conquering Cerro Torre via the Ferrari Route.
