Yakutsk is the capital city of the Sakha Republic, Russia, and is known for its extreme cold temperatures. Situated in the permafrost region of Eastern Siberia, Yakutsk experiences long, harsh winters with temperatures plummeting far below freezing, often reaching minus 40 degrees Celsius. Despite its frigid climate, Yakutsk is a place with a rich cultural heritage and a significant indigenous Yakut population. I got a little insight and spent some time with the hospitable and friendly Kuzmin family.
